Winterbottom Wins Race But Wincup Seals Title
Sunday 04 December 2011
TEAMVODAFONE'S Jamie Whincup sealed
his third V8 Supercars Championship
on the streets of Sydney, finishing eighth
in a drama-filled final race of the year.
The newly crowned champion joins the late Peter Brock and Craig Lowndes as a three-time champion on the honour roll and becomes only the second driver in history to win a championship with both Ford and Holden.
Championship rival Craig Lowndes raced through to second place, but it wasn't enough to bridge the championship points gap with Whincup the eventual Champion by 35 points.
He still claims a 1-2 finish for TeamVodafone in this year's Driver's Championship.
Winterbottom's race win handed him third in the championship, and the honour of the highest-finishing Ford driver this year.

Well, after months of speculation whether Simone & Shaun
were having a baby boy, girl or TWINS!
THE WAIT IS OVER!
Wideopen Motorsport would like to welcome Stella Vivienne Dal-Santo in to the world.
A healthy baby girl weighing in at 3.5kg or 7lb11oz, could she grow to be a future race driver?
Will she go for Holden or Ford ??
From all the team here at Wideopen Motorsport we’d like to congratulate the proud parents Simon & Shaun on a job well done!
Wideopen calls it a day: 2011 season
Thursday, 6th Oct 2011
The Wideopen Motorsport racing season is over with extensive damage to the gearbox at Warialda.
The crew has been working on the gearbox but unfortunately it won't be ready in time for the next and final round at Nabiac.
Wideopen Media spoke to driver Marty Dal Santo about the season ending decision.
'That's racing....It's been a big season for the Wideopen Motorsport car and the crew, many miles, many turns, many spills'
'At this time, I think we're doing the best thing possible to finish up a round early.
To iron out any creases with the car during the off season, ready to be back in 2012- it's going to be a massive year!'
'I'm ready; I just hope the fans can keep up with us in 2012!'

Warialda strikes a blow for Wideopen.
Sunday, 30th Sept 2011
Racing at Warialda started great with Shaun was behind the wheel for day 1 and got and Section 1 & 2 of the short course out of the way unscathed, Sunday was looking good with the car handling "like a cut cat".
An early start (not too good after the night at the pub) and then drivers briefing at 8am, Section 3 with Marty behind the wheel started at 8.30 am for the short course where the car had a slight issue with the coil on plug No1, replaced that with a new one and it was on to the long course to complete Section 4.
Section 4 was complete, just, with Marty getting a flat tyre JUST before he finished!
When asked how the car handled the long course "Shit Hot" "anymore power, and it'd be too much"
(I guess that coil problem solved the flat spot)
With a position of 13th outright and 1st in our class, TWO members form Wideopen that would be going out!?!?!
Marty in Hilux 481 and Trimmy in a Robinson R22 helicopter! (Spectacular photos!)
It would be in Section 5 that seen Wideopen's epic weekend at Warialda come to an end...
A blown gear box stopped them racing any further and the 13th outright, 1st in our class and the famous Warialda DASH FOR CASH sights slipped away…
A great weekend at Warialda, a great turn out from the crew and thankyou Warialda for the cold beers at the pub.
See you next year in March!
